Independent site
529 State Tax is a private publication. It is not run, endorsed or paid for by the Internal Revenue Service, any state government or treasurer, any state 529 plan or its program manager, a broker or an adviser.
General information, not advice
The pages describe federal and state rules on 529 plans and the calculators apply them to the figures you type, with assumptions you choose. Nothing here is tax, legal or investment advice, nor a recommendation to open, fund, move or withdraw from any account. Your state's return instructions and your plan's disclosure decide what applies to you; your state revenue department or a tax professional can confirm it.
Liability
State and federal rules are read on official texts and the calculators are tested before each release, but legislatures change rules every year and errors cannot be excluded. The publisher is not liable for a decision taken on the basis of the site alone. Errors can be reported through the contact page.
Intellectual property
Texts, design and code belong to the publisher; short quotations with a link are welcome. Federal government texts quoted here are in the public domain.
Embedding
The 529 state tax calculator may be embedded for free with its credit line visible: see the embed page.
Personal data and cookies
What you type in the calculators stays in your browser. The site sets Google Analytics audience measurement cookies (_ga, _ga_772NCNB8YX, 13 months at most), with no advertising; page stability is monitored with Microsoft Clarity, cookie-free. Governing law
French law applies; failing an amicable settlement, the courts of France have jurisdiction. Updated: 2026-10-19.
Results are estimates built from each state’s published rule, your figures and the assumptions you set (return, cost rise). They are not tax, legal or investment advice for your own case; your state revenue department or a tax professional can confirm it. Nobody pays us to point you to a plan.
